You're starting a redesign process, but where do you begin? What are the steps to follow? How do you communicate your needs to the vendor? Which technology should you choose? How do you make sure the redesign is a success?

There are so many questions to answer that you might already feel a bit overwhelmed.

But it doesn't have to be complicated. With the right person asking the right questions, in the right order, it can be quite simple.

I've been at the heart of many redesigns over the past 15 years and I have a good sense of what leads to a successful one.

I've condensed all this expertise into this support service to make your redesign a success.

Looking forward to working with you,

What we do

We'll work together to clearly define your redesign project and give you all the tools to see it through.

Discovery and objectives

We start by getting to know you, understanding your current situation and your needs.

  • Kick-off meeting. We review your current website, what works and what doesn't. We discuss your business objectives, target audience, and constraints.
  • Current state analysis. We examine your current site: structure, content, performance, traffic statistics. What's worth keeping? What needs to change?
  • Competitor analysis. We look at what your competitors are doing: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities. This helps you position yourself smartly and identify best practices in your industry.

Strategy definition

Before talking about design or technology, we define the strategy.

  • Positioning. How do you want to be perceived? What differentiates you? What do you want to change?
  • Visitors and customers. Who are your visitors and what is your typical customer profile?
  • User journeys. What are the key journeys on your site? What actions do you want visitors to take?

Architecture and structure

We define the structure of the new site.

  • Content inventory. We inventory the content that will need to be on the site to organize it properly.
  • Site map. We establish the page hierarchy and main navigation.
  • Templates. We identify the different types of pages needed (home, services, blog, contact, etc.) and their structure.
  • Features. We list the required features: forms, search, multilingual, e-commerce, etc.
  • Wireframes. We create functional mockups of key pages to validate the structure before moving to design.

Functional and technical specifications

We document the requirements so you can get comparable quotes or simply communicate your expectations better to your existing vendor.

  • Functional requirements. We detail the expected behavior of each identified feature.
  • Technical requirements. We help you formulate your technical constraints: integrations with existing systems, specific platforms, hosting, etc.
  • Non-functional requirements. We define the standards to meet: SEO, performance, accessibility, security.

What you get

A complete plan that allows you to launch your redesign project with confidence.

Requirements document

A comprehensive document describing the project: objectives, scope, features, structure, technical requirements. This document will help you get vendor quotes and validate that the delivered work matches what was planned.

Wireframes

Sketches of the main pages showing the layout of elements, without the visual design. This validates the structure and features before investing in design. It greatly helps service providers visualize your needs.

Information architecture & content plan

The navigation of your future site and a list of all content to produce or migrate. Content is often the bottleneck of redesign projects—we make sure you're in the best position possible.
